September Rose of the Month - Chad's Striped

Chad's Striped Chad's Striped (REGISTERY), TYPE OF ROSE, dark red
RIR score: {too new} out of 10.

Parentage: unknown
Hybridized by Whit Wells
Introduced in 2003

Here's a show stopper! Flowers are a dark, velvety red with yellow splashes and open to an excellent pyramid form. Add to this red stamens and this is truly a remarkable flower. Foliage is medium green and carried on an upright bush growing to 3 feet. Blooms are bourne singly, but laterals will develope quickly, so disbudding is needed for show quality blooms.

The bush is suseptable to black spot, spraying is advised. In the summer heat and sun, the blooms will cook; however, mine took several days and were fully open before the petals finished baking.

We think hardiness ZONES 4-9. It's very new.

Photographed by Don Wear at the Dixie Rose Club Rose Show 2003.
